Udinese at the Stadio Alberto Braglia in their Saturday afternoon Serie A fixture.

Lorenzo Pasciuti and Lorenzo Lollo gave the promoted side a two goal advantage, before Duvan Zapata netted a late consolation goal.

The visitors had the first attempt at goal when Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu found Cyril Thereau in the box, but the Frenchman saw his shot parried away for a corner by Vid Belec. The hosts responded and should have scored, a rebound off Antonio Di Gaudio rolled into the path of Cristian Zaccardo one-on-one with Orestis Karnezis, but the Greek shot-stopper saved the tame effort from the defender.

After looking the more likely, the Biancorossi took a deserved lead. A cross from Jerry Mbakogu sailed into the box with both Di Gaudio and Lorenzo Pasciuti waiting hopefully, the latter rose highest to head beyond the reach of Karnezis to open the scoring.

In the second half Carpi had a chance to double their lead, substitute striker Kevin Lasagna saw his thunderous effort on the half volley parried away by Karnezis. However, it wouldn’t be long before they doubled their advantage, Lasagna was involved again as he squared the ball to Lollo who put it underneath Karnezis.

Shortly after Udinese had a goal of their own, a shot from Bruno Fernandes was pushed back into play by Belec, waiting was Duvan Zapata who pounced applying a precise finish to beat the Slovenian goalkeeper. Udinese very nearly found a late goal to level the score, with Badu striking the post from a few yards out after a goal-mouth scramble.

Lasagna nearly made it three goals for the home fans to enjoy, but a mix-up between him and Mbakogu saw the chance squandered. The hosts held on to take all three points.
