Departures to allow AC Milan January incomings

El Shaarawy - AC Milan v TorinoThe sales of Alessio Cerci and Stephan El Shaarawy will bolster AC Milan’s transfer budget in the final weeks of the transfer window.

While Genoa have snapped up flop winger Cerci, who joined last January from Atletico Madrid, fellow Italian winger El Shaarawy is set to depart for Roma on a loan with a right of redemption clause.

That will give the Diavolo sufficient funds to strengthen their midfield with next week a key moment in Milan’s season as they plan where to add to their squad in an attempt to return to Europe, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic wants to add competition for Keisuke Honda down the right flank with the knowledge that the games are piling up; the double-header Coppa Italia semi-final with Alessandria and the derby with Inter are on the horizon.

Furthermore, Nigel De Jong, Antonio Nocerino and goalkeeper Diego Lopez could all be leaving the Stadio San Siro as the club target removing some high earners from the wage bill.
