Empoli coach Marco Giampaolo spoke of his side’s good showing following a home draw to AC Milan at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Carlos Bacca had given the Rossoneri an early advantage, before Piotr Zielinski levelled proceedings. Massimo Maccarone also cancelled out Giacomo Bonaventura’s second-half goal.

“I hope the team can continue to play this way,” Giampaolo told Premium Sport.

“We’re fine, in good health and we never gave up,” he added.

“I thought coming from behind twice also showed good strength.”

Sinisa Mihajlovic, Milan coach, was infuriated at the referee’s decision to not award his side a penalty for handball that could have changed the complexion of the match.

“You have judge the game as a whole,” stated Giampaolo.

“Also, their first goal was offside.”

With the Azzurri’s fine season well in the limelight, there has been talk of possible exits as the mercato nears its closing stages.

“Well, they’ll be training as usual.”

“In terms of the attention they are getting that has never been questioned.

“I expect a tough week! [Laughs]

“But I do hope these players can stay for the remaining year, and not leave now.

“Tonelli [Lorenzo] or Barba [Federico]? I hope none go, they are very strong players for us.”
