zarate west hamFiorentina have reportedly sealed the signing of striker Mauro Zarate from West Ham United to boost Paulo Sousa’s squad’s attacking prowess.

The Argentine forward is to make his return to Italy following previous spells at Lazio and Inter between 2008 and 2013.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 28-year-old will undergo his medical in Florence and sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Viola, who will pay €2.1 million to the Premier League side.

Zarate had moved to the London outfit in 2014, and has since struggled to impress with the Hammers’ jersey, also experiencing an unproductive loan at Queens Park Rangers from January to June 2015.

He has made 17 appearances during the 2015-16 season, starting just nine nine times, scoring three goals, two of which came against Arsenal and Chelsea.

The South American’s arrival makes Giuseppe Rossi’s departure likelier as Fiorentina were waiting to bring in Zarate before finalising the Italy international’s move to Levante.

The Stadio Artemio Franchi side sit fourth in the Serie A table, having lost three of their last five games.
