Fiorentina attacker Guiseppe Rossi could be in line for a return to Spain with Villarreal touted as hot favourites to land the much-maligned striker.
The 28-year-old joined La Viola from the Yellow Submarine in the summer of 2013, but his time in Italy has thus far been plagued by a series of knee injuries.
Despite being mostly injury free this season, the Italian international has thus far failed to regain his best form, having made just nine Serie A appearances thus far this season.
With Rossi’s contract expiring at the end of the season and with the forward searching for regular first-team football, the club are prepared to cash in on the player with Sky Sport Italia reporting that the former Manchester United man could be in line for a return to La Liga outfit Villarreal.
Likened to Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero, Rossi initially spent three seasons at the Old Trafford outfit before moving the Spain, where he made a name for himself by hitting 82 goals in 192 appearances for Villarreal in all competitions.
