Fiorentina are hoping to bolster their options by chasing the signing of River Plate defender Emanuel Mammana.

The initial idea was to lay the foundations for a deal that would bring the young Argentine to Italy in the summer. But with Fiorentina needing more options for a title push, the transfer may be brought forward if River will allow such a move.

The Italian club have reportedly offered €6.5 million for the 20-year-old, but the Millionarios President Rodolfo D’Onofrio has set a fee of €10 million plus for his promising young talent.

“Fiorentina made an offer for Mammana, but that’s still too low.” D’Onofrio asserted.

“If this will be their final offer it will be difficult to see Fiorentina acquiring him in the current transfer window. We have already informed the Italian club and the player’s entourage about it.

“Don’t forget that Fiorentina are not the only side interested in signing him. There are lot of Spanish clubs after Mammana.”

Paulo Sousa will want to steal a march on rivals with clubs including Inter and Atletico Madrid also interested in the technical and elegant centre-back.
