Genoa claimed their second win on the trot for the first time this season with a 4-0 win over Palermo at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday afternoon in Serie A.

Suso put the hosts head before they dominated the rest of the match and got their second through Leonardo Pavoletti. Palermo went down to 10-men midway through the second half thanks to Sinisa Andelkovic and they couldn’t recover. Pavoletti then got himself another while Tomas Rincon added to the goal tally.

Excellent teamwork put the hosts ahead when Suso got his first goal for the side since joining on loan and his key footwork got him past the defence and he could slot the ball past Stefano Sorrentino.

Suso nearly got his second with a shot to the bottom corner which caught Sorrentino off guard but the goalkeeper just managed to get his fingertips to put it wide.

An equaliser for Palermo nearly came out of nowhere with a speculative effort from Achraf Lazaar but Mattia Perin managed to grab hold of the ball before it flew over his head and into the net.

The Rosanero’s afternoon only got worse soon after the hour mark when Andelkovic made a clumsy tackle that wasn’t necessary and he was shown a red card.

Three points were practically sealed with Genoa finally got their second goal after a poor Palermo defence gave Leonardo Pavoletti a free header to make it two.

Palermo appeared to fall apart following the red card and Tomas Rincon capitalised, making it three goals for the hosts when he powered home after being in lots of space following more weak defending.

A fantastic finish from Pavoletti gave him his second and Genoa’s fourth of the game with an excellent scissor kick late on.

The victory means Genoa overtake Palermo in the Serie A table and currently sit 15th, while the Rosanero are 17th.
