Genoa president admits strongly chasing Cerci during his life

Alessio Cerci AC MilanGenoa president Enrico Preziosi has claimed to have pursued the signing of Alessio Cerci throughout his life.

The 28-year-old, who is still owned by Atletico Madrid, joined the Rossoblu side on loan after playing one year for AC Milan.

“Cerci is the player I have chased the most during my life,” the president of the Grifone told Sky Sport.

“I hope this choice will pay dividends.”

The Italian winger left the San Siro side in an attempt to revitalise career after the Rossoneri’s fans had booed him because of his poor form.

He has started eight games in this campaign under Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, without finding the net.

Genoa signed Cerci as Argentinian star Diego Perotti is expected to make Roma switch.

“I’m not sure of anything,” Preziosi said.

“Perotti is an important player, I will do what I can and want to do.

“As long as I’m here I take the decisions, trying to do what is better for Genoa.”
