By mutually agreeing the termination of Nemanja Vidic’s contract, Inter have made a multi-million euro saving that could be diverted to January spending.

The Nerazzurri have experienced trouble with Financial Fair Play in recent years under Indonesian owner Erick Thohir, with any spare cash – and then some – poured into improving Roberto Mancini’s squad to bring the Milan club back to the forefront of European football.

After agreeing to mutually terminate his contract, 34-year-old Vidic waived his salary for the final years of his contract, worth around €9.6 million according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

For the first time in years Inter are seriously involved in the Scudetto race and this money is expected to be used to tempt the likes of Paris Saint-Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to aid in their fight for the Serie A crown.
