Federico MarchettiLazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti could be about to sign a surprise renewal of his contract with the Aquile.

Marchetti’s contract was set to expire at the end of this season bringing to an end five years of service with the Biancocelesti, after he joined from Cagliari in 2011.

However, According to Il Tempo, as the Italy international is set to stay, current second-choice goalkeeper Etrit Berisha will be sold at the end of the season to make room for another goalkeeper.

During his time at Lazio, Marchetti has made 141 appearances in all competitions and his stint with the club has also coincided with the Biancocelesti winning one Coppa Italia in 2013.

Meanwhile Kosovo-born shot-stopper Berisha joined the club in 2013 but has failed to establish himself as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper in front of Marchetti.
