Inter coach Roberto Mancini said his side were unlucky to lose 1-0 to Sassuolo at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday, after dominating for most of the game.

A 95th minute penalty from Domenico Berardi gave the Neroverdi all three points following a man-of-the-match performance from Andrea Consigli in the visitors goal, and some wasteful finishing from the Nerazzurri forwards.

“We created a lot of chances but unfortunately we failed to convert them,” Mancini told Mediaset Premium following the game.

“Andrea Consigli in the Sassuolo goal was excellent, and it was just one of those days.

“I would have preferred to win 1-0 and suffer until the end but it didn’t happen for us.

“We were dominant for most of the game and Sassuolo created very few goal-scoring opportunities in the second half.

“The penalty wasn’t down to a lack of concentration, and I do believe Berardi should have been send off before that for the foul on Danilo D’Ambrosio, and of course he scored the winner.”

Inter now travel to face Atalanta next Saturday as they look to get their Scudetto hopes back on track following two defeats in the last three games.
