maranChievo coach Rolando Maran was saddened by the defeat to Lazio due to his players’ individual mistakes.

Maran also claimed the sending off of Bostjan Cesar was decisive for the final result as the Flying Donkeys fell 4-1 in the capital.

“Chievo did very well in the first half, then playing with 10 men made a difference,” Maran told Rai Sport.

“It didn’t end well, but the team was in the game until the very end, despite making some mistakes.

“We can be sad with ourselves for some of our own errors that complicated things.

“It’s a shame, had we scored the penalty in the final minutes we would have reopened the match.”

Chievo lost 4-1 to Lazio after going ahead in the first five minutes and then going down to 10 men early in the second half.

Alberto Paloschi missed a penalty with 10 minutes to spare.
