Fiorentina have been rebuffed by Marseille after they offered unwanted midfielder Mario Suarez to the Ligue 1 club, and as a result Inter’s move for Lassana Diarra has fallen through.

Both clubs are in the midst of a fight for this season’s Scudetto and both are looking to strengthen their squads for the second-half of the season.

According to Calciomercato.com, La Viola were interested in swapping Mario Suarez for Marseille winger Lucas Ocampos, however, RMC Sport report that the French club have no interest in the Spaniard.

This is because Les Phoceens already have a very good defensive midfielder in Diarra, who is wanted by the Nerazzurri, but Marseille president Vincent Labrune has no interest in selling the French international.

Yet, Mario Suarez could still be on the way out of Florence after his agent told Footmercato, “Leaving is a possibility, but right now there is nothing concrete.

“Three English teams want him, as well as Marseille. There have been talks, but nothing concrete has been finalised.”
