US Citta di Palermo v Udinese Calcio - Serie APalermo overcame a struggling Udinese 4-1 in a highly entertaining match with saw the Friuliani concede four goals for the second week in a row.

In the first half Palermo scored through Robin Quaison, while in the second half goals from Oscar Hiljemark and Achraf Lazaar gave the Rosanero a three goal lead before Cyril Therau pulled one back for the visitors. Aleksandar Trajkovski wrapped up the points late on with a wonderful strike.

In the opening stages the home side pushed on, but without creating any concrete chances, besides a header from Alberto Gilardino following a corner kick.

After 16 minutes Udinese had a great chance with Thereau shooting wide when well placed following an Ednilson cross.

Palermo had two clear chances to take the lead within three minutes of each other, both falling to former AC Milan striker Gilardino. The first one originated by a mistake in control by Felipe but the forward’s shot was wide. The second miss came after a cross from Chocev that missed out by a whisker.

Quaison opened the scoring after 35 minutes, latching onto Gilardino’s pass and firing past Orestes Karnezis.

Udinese’s reaction arrived seven minutes after the goal when Bruno Fernandes’ long ball reached Thereau, but the striker lost his nerve in front of goal.

Following a period of sustained pressure, Quaison provided an assist for Hiljemark to double their lead with Franco Vazquez instrumental in the build up.

A third goal finished the game as a contest courtesy of Lazaar’s fine long-range effort that bounced past the hapless Karnezis.

Thereau pulled one back to offer Udinese a glimmer of hope with a header which Stefano Sorrentino was powerless to stop.

Trajkovski scored Palermo’s fourth and final goal of the afternoon when his magnificent curling effort from just outside the penalty nestled into the net on 87 minutes.

The result means that Palermo drew level with Udinese on 24 points, leaving both clubs six points above the relegation zone.
