AC Milan.

The German defender gave Roma the lead in the 1-1 draw and the 22-year-old claims Roma may have a mentality problem as they threw away a lead yet again in Serie A.

“I have to say sorry to fans after the game,” Rudiger told Sky Sport Italia after the Milan match.

“We are not winning and it is not a good trend.

“It is a mentality problem and we have to give 100 per cent to turn it around.

“It is difficult to explain it because we have so many good players in the squad.”

Rudiger then defended coach Rudi Garcia who has been under pressure from fans in recent weeks following disappointing results.

“It is not simply the fault of the coach,” Rudiger added.

“Every player has to have a look at themselves and change their mentality.

“The coach is trying his best and doing his job.”
