English Premier League side Swansea have turned towards Roma striker Seydou Doumbia in their efforts to avoid relegation this season.

The Swans sit perilously in 17th in the Premier League table, just a point above the relegation zone, and are understandably hoping to utilise the transfer window to avoid a disastrous slide back into the second tier.

Sky Sport Italia report that Ivory Coast forward Doumbia could be arriving in Wales shortly with Swansea keen to quicken any deal.

Swansea have recently sold midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to rivals Newcastle, and are apparently willing to instantly reinvest the €16 million they received through that sale.

Doumbia has just two Serie A goals to his Roma account, disappointing since a goal-laden spell in Russia where he was on the scoresheet 81 times from 96 appearances.

Napoli’s Jonathan de Guzman has also been linked to the Swans this transfer window.
