immobile torino frosinoneTorino ousted visitors Frosinone with a 4-2 victory at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday to snap their four-game winless streak in Serie A.

Ciro Immobile initiated a fairytale return to the club on loan as he buried the first goal of the match from an early spot-kick before Paolo Sammarco netted a fantastic headed equaliser and Andrea Belotti quickly notched two more first-half goals of his own. An own goal in the second half by Danilo Avelar was then cancelled out as Marco Benassi scored Torinio’s fourth with 10 minutes left.

The home side were looking dangerous after just two minutes when Daniele Baselli was denied a great opening following Bruno Peres’ cross, but his volley was parried by Nicola Leali.

Moments later, Davide Bertoncini hindered Kamil Glik’s run inside the box from a corner kick that warranted referee Massimiliano Irrati to issue a booking and point to the penalty spot.

Immobile confidently struck his initial penalty away, but needed to retake his shot due to an infringement on the first attempt and he was cool as ice for his second try to give Torino the advantage on his happy return to Italy.

The Canarini brought little menace in attack until the half-hour mark, when some quick exchanges up the left wing led to a cross from Daniel Pavlovic that assisted a perfect header by Paolo Sammarco into the top corner.

Within five minutes the Granata were back on top thanks to a goal by Belotti, and the Italian added another for good measure just before the break.

Torino were put on edge in the 75th minute when Frosinone pulled a goal back following a deflected own goal by Danilo Avelar from a corner kick, but Marco Benassi netted a fourth and final goal to bury the result.

Victory sees Giampiero Ventura’s side take a provisional spot in 11th place, while Roberto Stellone’s men remain 17th after their 13th loss.
