Udinese coach Stefano Colantuono praised Carpi after his side were condemned to defeat by the newly-promoted side.

Duvan Zapata was on target but both Lorenzo Lollo and Lorenzo Pasciuti scored to deny Udinese a third consecutive league win.

“There is little to comment on, we played very badly in the first half and nervy in the second,” Colantuono told Sky Sport Italia.

“The game started badly, we tried to play with heart and desire, but Carpi were good and I had my doubts ahead of this tie.”

The three points are invaluable for Carpi who are battling relegation straight back to Serie B, moving them onto 14 points.

“Carpi fight for every ball, they break up play efficiently and you have to play the game their way,” Colantuono continued.

“We play aggressive football but Carpi do as well. We’re sorry to our traveling fans because they deserved a better result.

“We knew we were facing a team that plays with passion and enthusiasm and we simply didn’t react,” he concluded.

Udinese remain on 24 points in Serie A with nine points separating them from the relegation zone.
