AC Milan full-back Ignazio Abate hopes the club will keep hold of coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
With their 1-0 win over Torino on Saturday, the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side have extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games in all competitions. Yet, when asked in a recent interview about the Serbian coach’s future, Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi answered he has to win every game to convince both the club and fans.
“It would be a shame to start from scratch,” Abate told reporters ahead of the upcoming Coppa Italia semi final.
“It was said that we were a building site, but now we’re a house, that’s why I’m confident that he’ll stay.”
After recovering from a series of injuries in late 2015, the 29-year-old has earned a permanent place in the Rossoneri squad, featuring in 21 Serie A games and scoring once.
The Diavolo will face Alessandria tomorrow as they attempt to defend their 1-0 advantage from the first leg when Mario Balotelli converted from the penalty spot.
