AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez could be on his way back to La Liga, as Levante close in on a move for the Spaniard.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a departure from the Stadio San Siro for the majority of the January transfer window, with the Milanese club reportedly willing to let the player leave.

AS have stated that the Spanish side are currently discussing the possibility of a loan move for the player, which could see him depart Serie A until the end of the current campaign.

It has been previously reported that the player has been a target for both Bournemouth and Everton this month, however it now seems he has opted to make a return to his native Spain.

The only obstacle possibly preventing the deal is the sum of Lopez’s lucrative salary, with Levante yet to agree to pay part of his annual €2.5 million wage.

The former Real Madrid man notably lost his starting place in Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side this season, after the experienced shot-stopper was replaced by the 16-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma.
