Napoli defender Raul Albiol has dismissed the notion that his side are under pressure to advance to the next round of the Europa League and holds hopes of reaching the final of the tournament.
The Partenopei were held at home by a resolute AC Milan side in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening in Serie A and thus failed to capitalise on title rivals Juventus dropping points, though have a chance to atone for their slip up by progressing through to the next round of the Europa League against Villarreal CF.
“We wanted to win, we wanted the three points but in the end we drew,” the Spaniard told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“It is a long race for the Scudetto, even for second place which is worth direct Champions League entry.
“We want to get to the final of the Europa League because last year we made the semi-finals.”
Napoli are unbeaten at home in all competitions this term but Albiol says his side feel no pressure as they look to overturn a 1-0 deficit.
“We think only about winning every game,” he concluded. “I do not think about anything else on the field.”
