Bologna and Fiorentina drew 1-1 at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Saturday evening in Serie A, with the Rossoblu going closer to taking all three points.

Little happened in the first half, with Fiorentina controlling the ball but without being dangerous. The second half started with the red card shown to Matias Fernandez, followed by Federico Bernardeschi’s opener. Just four minutes later Emanuele Giaccherini made it 1-1 and Bologna pushed for the winner, but were unable to find another goal.

Fiorentina started the game with their usual possession, but it was quite ineffective for most of the first half.

The best chance of the first half happened on 44 minutes, with Mattia Destro collected a ball from Amadou Diawara and close in on goal, but Gonzalo Rodriguez blocked it.

Paulo Sousa, in the stands because of the ban, substituted a very unproductive Khouma Babacar for Nikola Kalinic to try and light up the Viola attack.

The second half started like the first one, but 12 minutes in Fernandez naively fouled Domenico Maietta to prevent a counterattack and was sent off for a second yellow card.

Bologna were unable to make the most of it though, as on 59 minutes Bernardeschi wonderfully finished a beautiful passage play, started by Borja Valero, passing through Kalinic and Cristian Tello’s assist, before the youngster’s first Serie A goal this season.

On 63 minutes Bologna photocopied Fiorentina’s goal and found the equaliser thanks to Giaccherini’s sixth goal of the season with a clear finish.

On 67 minutes Davide Astori found himself alone on a free kick from Manuel Pasqual, but his header went wide.

Roberto Donadoni’s men went close to the 2-1 on 74 minutes with Saphir Taider shooting on target but finding the perfect reaction by Ciprian Tatarusanu who kept the Viola level.

The Rossoblu started pushing for the winner, with Fiorentina wasting at least three potential counterattacks, but the game ended with the two teams tacking home a point each.

The result keeps Fiorentina in third and Bologna in 10th.
