gomez atalanta carpiCarpi are ready to face Atalanta on Sunday at the Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena for a desperate Serie A battle between two struggling sides.

The home side is going through a rough patch, after remaining winless in the last six matches and standing now in the penultimate spot of the league table. Carpi’s last victory was in mid-January against Sampdoria, and the Falconi have lately racked up three losses and three draws.

Atalanta are in an even worse situation, since their last win was the Palermo clash in December. The squad has been winless for 11 matches after that win, losing six games and drawing for the remaining five times.

The Orobici won the last clash between the two sides in October, walking over the Falconi with a bossy 3-0 that featured the goals from Mauricio Pinilla, Alejandro Gomez and Luca Cigarini. Carpi will surely be looking for revenge in what will certainly be a tough match.

Carpi’s coach Fabrizio Castori however remains unlikely to change his lineup, continuing to deploy the squad in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Lorenzo Lollo will be the trequartista, with Jerry Mbakogu as the only pure forward. The Falconi’s infirmary is still quite full, and important elements as Matteo Fedele and Jonathan De Guzman are currently out for injury.

Edoardo Reja, on the opposite side, will have to do without midfielder Carlos Carmona, who will probably be out for the rest of the season. Atalanta’s midfield will, therefore, feature Luca Cigarini, Jasmin Kurtic and Marten De Roon. The attacking trio will be composed by Alessandro Diamanti, as well as the last game’s scorers Gomez and Pinilla.
