De Jong - AC MilanFormer AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong has taken the time to thank the Rossoneri faithful for their support during his three-and-a-half year spell at the club.

The 31-year-old has reached a mutual decision with the Diavolo to terminate the remainder of his contract and is expected to join Los Angeles Galaxy in the United States in the coming days.

“The moment has come to move on to the next chapter in my career,” De Jong told his followers on Twitter.

“But first I want to take the time to say a few words.

“I would like to thank AC Milan for giving me the opportunity to play in this jersey for the past couple of years.

“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, staff and people working in and around Milanello for always making me feel I was a part of their family.

“And of course, the fans that supported me from day one in good and bad times.”

De Jong joined Milan from Premier League club Manchester City during August 2012 for a fee of the region of €5 million and went on to make 79 appearances, scoring six goals.
