Hellas Verona’s Artur Ionita is set to remain with the bottom of the table club, after they rejected a bid of €3 million from Fiorentina.

Viola coach Paulo Sousa is keen to strengthen his squad ahead of the deadline day closure on Monday, although they will now have to pay an increased fee if they are to persuade the Veronese outfit to sell their player.

La Gazzetta dello Sport confirmed that the Gialloblu have turned down Fiorentina’s  offer for the 25-year-old, revealing that they presented an initial bid of €3 million plus €2m in potential bonuses.

However, this rejection has not deterred the Scudetto chasing Gigliati, who may return with yet another bid in the forthcoming few hours.

The Moldova international has so far made 15 domestic appearances for Luigi Delneri’s men this season, scoring just one goal for the Gialloblu, who remain rooted to the foot of Serie A table still without a league win.
