Frosinone finally managed to maintain a clean sheet, defeating an ill-disciplined Bologna by a score of 1-0 at the Stadio Matusa.

Rossoblu defender Marios Oikonomou was sent off in the second half and the home side took advantage 13 minutes later through a Federico Dionisi penalty.

The first chance of the match fell to the visitors after 7 minutes when a deflected ball fell to Matteo Brighi but the former Italy international scuffed his shot wide.

Frosinone saw their first chance come via a corner at the quarter-hour mark when Leonardo Blanchard was left all alone only to see his diving header go straight into the ground and over the crossbar.

In the 25th minute a scramble just inside of the Bologna box saw the ball eventually fall to the feet of Aleksandar Tonev whose side footer was well-saved by keeper Antonio Mirante.

In the 36th minute some lovely Bologna possession play in the midfield culminated in a one-two between Sergio Floccari and Anthony Mounier but the Frenchman could not beat Nicola Leali.

Bologna were now dominating proceedings and minutes before the interval another impressive passing play resulted in a hard low cross from Luca Rizzo finishing just out of the reach of three onrushing Bologna players.

Frosinone came out on the front foot with efforts from Tonev and Daniel Ciofani narrowly missing.

Bologna were reduced to ten men in the 64th minute for a second bookable offense against Oikonomou.

Frosinone were then awarded a penalty in the 76th minute when Luca Rossettini tackled Paolo Sammarco as the midfielder was preparing to shoot from point-blank range. Goalkeeper Mirante guessed right and got a touch on Dionisi’s spot kick but could not keep it from hitting the back of the net.

The goal effectively ended the match as a contest as Frosinone were content to kill off the match against a dejected Bologna side who had lost all confidence.

The victory brings Frosinone level on points with Carpi, ahead of the Biancorossi’s match against Fiorentina this evening. Bologna remain in 10th but could drop to 13th depending on tonight’s results.
