Modibo Diakite is returning to where it all began, joining Sampdoria from Frosinone.

The 28-year-old, who originally began his youth career with the Blucerchiati, joins on a permanent transfer on the final day of the transfer window.

The Frenchman’s current contract runs only until the end of the season, at which point it will be readdressed between player and team.

Diakite has made 18 appearances for Frosinone so far this season, scoring one goal.

The Canarini have replaced the outgoing defender with Vasyl Pryima, on a loan deal from Torino until the end of the season.

Pryima has failed to make a single appearance in Serie A this season after being signed by Torino as a free agent in October.

Prior to his introduction into Italian football, Pryima made 123 appearances for Ukrainian side Metalurh Donetsk who went bankrupt last July.
