Frosinone v Bologna – Preview: Rossoblu look to continue winning ways against Canarini

Frosinone on Wednesday evening at the Stadio Matusa.

The hosts currently occupy the 19th position in the Serie A table while Bologna sit dead in the middle in 10th and 13 points currently divide the two clubs.

The Canarini are in a downward spiral, earning a mere two points from their past eight matches. During this span they have scored a respectable nine goals, however, they have conceded a whopping 24. Coach Roberto Stellone had hoped to build off a goalless draw against Atalanta but they were promptly exposed once again in a 3-1 loss to Roma on the weekend.

While Frosinone have struggled over their past eight fixtures, the Felsinei have excelled, victorious in five, including back-to-back wins against Sassuolo and Sampdoria last weekend by a score of 3-2. Coach Roberto Donadoni has transformed the side and will surely be a candidate for Serie A Coach of the Year should the Rossoblu continue to improve over the final three months of the season.

The head-to-head record between the two sides since 2006 has been closely matched with two wins apiece and three further draws, until Bologna broke the deadlock in gameweek four, coming out 1-0 victors courtesy of an Anthony Mounier first-half strike.

The Gialloazzurri are not facing any suspensions this week. The Veltri on the other hand must make do without the services of Daniele Gastaldello, who sits out due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Injury concerns weigh on both sides this week as Frosinone will be without Roberto Crivello, Massimiliano Carlini and new boy Oliver Kragl while Bologna will be missing Emil Krafth and last week’s goalscorer Godfred Donsah.

Federico Dionisi is Frosinone’s top marksman this season with six goals, one strike fewer than Bologna’s leading scorer Mattia Destro.
