Francis-CoquelinInter are planning a summer assault on Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin, and could offer one of Marcelo Brozovic or Mauro Icardi to sweeten the deal.

The Frenchman has cemented a regular starting berth in the Gunners’ squad this season and in turn has caught the eye of the Nerazzurri as they look to add yet more names to their midfield.

According to Goal.com, Inter hold Coquelin as a priority target and will give their all to secure his signature.

Roberto Mancini’s central midfield conundrum has been well-documented this season and the former Stade Lavallois man is said to be viewed as the solution to all of the tactician’s problems.

However, the report notes that a potential barrier to the deal’s progression is Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger’s reluctance to let the midfielder go.

The 66-year-old was unwilling to bolster his midfield in January and has instead chose to field Coquelin on a more regular basis following his return from injury, a testament to his faith in the midfielder.

As a result, the Biscione are prepared to use either Marcelo Brozovic or Mauro Icardi as makeweight for the 24-year-old, which may prove enough to convince the French coach to part ways with his key man.
