Juventus completed a narrow 1-0 win over Genoa at the Juventus Stadium in their Wednesday night Serie A meeting.

The goal was made by Juan Cuadrado but Sebastian De Maio got the last touch, with Simone Zaza shown a red card in the second half.

The first opportunity came the way of the home side, a quick burst of pace from Paulo Dybala opened up some space, but his driven effort went just wide of the post. However, with half an hour on the clock the Bianconeri opened their account. A winding run from Juan Cuadrado culminated in a shot that deflected off Sebastian De Maio and beyond Mattia Perin.

In the second half the Grifone missed a great chance to restore parity, the ball was loose in the penalty area after Gianluigi Buffon denied Alessio Cerci, but Leonardo Pavoletti couldn’t reach the ball in time. Substitute striker Simone Zaza then came remarkably close to doubling the hosts advantage, having successfully escaped the offside trap he inexplicably put his shot straight at Perin.

Paul Pogba has been in sparkling form for the Old Lady and almost got himself on the scoreline, but he couldn’t direct his shot on target following a free kick from Dybala. The home side would have to finish the game with ten men, Zaza with a terrible challenge from behind on Armando Izzo saw the striker shown a straight red card.

Juventus keep up the pressure on Napoli who are still within two points of the current champions, while Genoa share the same concerns as their city rivals Sampdoria, with the gap between themselves and the relegation zone becoming more and more narrow.
