Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain turned down an offer to move to Chelsea as the club could not guarantee him a regular starting role.
The 28-year-old former Real Madrid player has fired the Partenopei to the top of the Serie A table with 24 goals in 24 matches so far this season.
According to the Daily Mail, Higuain was approached by the Blues hierarchy during the January transfer window regarding a €50 million transfer to the Premier League.
Higuain turned down the offer after interim coach Guus Hiddink was unwilling to guarantee the in-form goalscorer a place in his team ahead of Spanish striker Diego Costa.
The Azzurri face Juventus in a top of the table clash in Serie A on Saturday evening.
