AC Milan outfit to the Stadio Renzo Barbera on Wednesday.

The Sicilian side are continuing to stagnate and were unable to follow up on their convincing 4-1 defeat of Udinese as they settled to a 1-1 draw with Carpi on Saturday.

In contrast, Milan managed to overturn their fortunes since the start of the New Year notwithstanding a 1-0 loss to Bologna, and are undefeated in their last six encounters in both league and cup competitions.

A stunning performance from Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side resulted in a thrilling 3-0 victory over Inter in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday night.

September’s reverse fixture between Milan and Palermo at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza provided plenty of thrills of its own as it finished 3-2 in favour of the Rossoneri.

Milan nearly squandered a 3-0 lead built in the first half with Giacomo Bonaventura netting between a brace from Carlos Bacca before Oscar Hiljemark increased the tension with a second half brace of his own.

Plenty more goals should be on the menu when the teams meet again on Wednesday as history reveals a hefty 76 goals exchanged between them over 27 head to head showdowns, and Milan hold the advantage with 13 victories over Palermo’s nine.

Alberto Gilardino will look to hit the back of the net against his former club after scoring his sixth goal of the campaign against Carpi.

Carlos Bacca has managed to bag a goal in each of his previous four appearances for the Diavolo since netting the opening strike against Carpi in the 2-1 Coppa Italia victory in mid January, and the Colombian now boasts 11 goals in Serie A.

Giovanni Tedesco will search for his first win in charge of the Rosanero against the sixth-placed opponents, but will be missing Gaston Brugman and backup ‘keeper Josip Posavec due to injuries picked up last week.

Sinisa Mihajlovic is also missing a duo through injury as Diego Lopez and Rodrigo Ely continue their recovery.
