Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo has revealed that his footballing idol has always been former Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard.
After previously having the pleasure of playing against the LA Galaxy man, the 31-year-old has now admitted that he has since tried his best to imitate certain aspects of the Englishman’s game.
“My idol has always been Gerrard,” said Parolo to LaLaziosiamonoi.it. “I had the fortune of playing against him and it was incredible.
“It is necessary to take all of the things that you can from these type of players and treasure them.”
In terms of the Aquile’s recent form in Serie A, the Italy international also stated that he and his teammates generally try their best to ignore certain criticisms, whilst insisting that their strong character can help provide them with a boost in the league.
“We try to remain united and ignore what is said about us,” said Paolo to LaLaziosiamonoi.it. “If we did listen to it all then we would go crazy.
“We cannot always be 100 percent but we can always improve thanks to our desire and passion.”
