ranocchia sampdoriaSampdoria defender and former Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia admits it will be unusual facing his old teammates when the two sides go head to head at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in round 26 of Serie A action.

Having joined the Blucerchiati in January, Ranocchia swapped a potential title challenge for a relegation battle and believes his current club’s struggles are more important than those of the Nerazzurri.

“It will be weird playing against them [Inter],” Ranocchia told Sky Sport Italia. “It has been six years since I visited the San Siro as an opponent.

“We are both fighting desperately to achieve our goals, but ours is more important as we are close to the relegation zone.

“It will no doubt prove to be a difficult match, but it will be a nice experience for me.”

Ranocchia concluded by expressing his content with his decision to move to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, and that Saturday’s game would not be easy.

“I am glad I came to Samp,” he added. “Tomorrow will be a big challenge for not only me, but my teammates as well.”

With Frosinone winning two of their last three Serie A games, the Blucerchiati currently sit just three points ahead of the Canarini in 17th place, though a win could see them rise as high as 14th, depending on other results.
