Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has been ruled out for up to a month with a calf strain.

The 32-year-old suffered a Grade I lesion to the soleus muscle in his left leg during the Giallorossi’s 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The midfielder was spotted limping out of the Stadio Olimpico after the game in midweek and tests have revealed that De Rossi has aggravated the calf injury that he had rushed back from.

Roma doctors expect the midfielder to be sidelined for up to four weeks meaning the Italian is likely to miss the Giallorossi’s clash with Fiorentina on March 4 and the return leg against Real Madrid four days later.

De Rossi has made 25 appearances in Roma colours this term, netting three goals and laying on a single assist.
