Sampdoria drew 2-2 with Torino at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Wednesday evening in Serie A.

The first half was dire before it livened up in the second as Luis Muriel opened the scoring, Andrea Belotti equalised before Roberto Soriano looked to have won it. Belotti then equalised again in the 94th minute to win a point for the visitors.

The game got off to a very slow start with both sides unable to create chances.

Former Samp man Afriyie Acquah had a chance saved on the counterattack while Marco Benassi did well to get a shot away that travelled over the bar in the 26th minute.

Other than that, there was little action and the sides went into the break with the match goalless.

Davide Zappacosta had a clear sight of goal in the 46th minute but sliced his long-range shot beyond the far post.

The Blucerchiati looked dangerous a minute later after winning possession high up the pitch but Joaquin Correa was shepherded away from goal well after driving into the box.

Daniele Baselli won a header in the area in the 61st minute but the ball bounced in front of Emiliano Viviano who saved comfortably.

Correa did well to trick his way into the area but his low cross was cleared by Kamil Glik.

Samp then took the lead after Dodo’s cross from the left was brilliantly met by Luis Muriel’s diving header.

The Granata equalised in the 71st minute after Andrea Ranocchia failed to connect with his attempted clearance, allowing the ball to roll to Belotti who finished at point-blank range.

Ciro Immobile went through on goal soon after but Viviano did excellently to get down at his feet and win the ball.

Roberto Soriano restored the hosts’ lead in the 84th minute with a lovely curling strike from outside the area that found the bottom-right corner.

Torino’s late pressure paid off as Belotti got onto the end of Immobile’s cross from the left to head home in the 94th minute and incense the home crowd.

The result sends Sampdoria up to 16th while Torino move into 11th.
