Spanish and German champions after AC Milan youngster

Alessio Romagnoli ac MilanBayern Munich and Barcelona are both looking to Italy this summer for reinforcements, with AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli topping each side’s shortlists.

The 21 year-old has been heralded as the heir apparent to Alessandro Nesta at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, arriving from Roma last August for €25 million after lengthy negotiations.

Now however the footballing elite are ready to test Milan’s resolve, with Spanish publication Sport warning of imminent offers from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich; while AS Monaco are also observing.

Although the Italian Under-21 international seemed to suffer initially with a sending off against Fiorentina, continued appearances in the starting-eleven have coincided with a noticeable improvement in team performances.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has made steps to ensuring the Rossoneri are not without defensive cover in June, most notably in the form of negotiations for River Plate sensation Emanuel Mammana.

Romagnoli has improved due in part to a defensive partnership with the Brazilian veteran Alex, but the San Siro giants will listen to offers should they resemble the fee they paid Roma.

The Anzio-born defender has made a total of 27 appearances in all competitions so far this season, only missing two games and has only been on the losing side on four occasions.
