As Juventus prepare for their Champions League second-leg showdown against Bayern Munich, Torino’s captain, Kamil Glik, has claimed that he is hopeful the German champions can overcome the Bianconeri on March 16.
Having previously drawn 2-2 during the opening encounter, Glik has now claimed that he has been a lifelong fan of the Bavarian outfit since his father worked in Germany when he was a little boy.
“I’ve been a Bayern fan since I was a child,” said the Polish defender to Przeglad Sportowy. “My father worked in Germany and whenever he came home, it would make me think of that country.
“He almost always had Bayern shirts and toys with him that he’d give to me, which made me happy.
“I hope that Bayern eliminate Juve.”
As for personal performances from the fiercly competitive European encounter, Glik has praised the Juventus defence for how they dealt with his Polish compatriot, Robert Lewandowski during the match, and warned him that he should expect more of the same treatment in the return leg.
“Lewandowski did not have it easy during the first leg and it will sure to be same in the return fixture,” his Polish compatriot added.
“[Leonardo] Bonucci and [Andrea] Barzagli formed a great partnership.
“However, the match is still wide-open despite the the 2-2 scoreline.”
