Jeremy Menez AC Milan EmpoliAC Milan forward Jeremy Menez has voiced his pleasure at scoring in the Diavolo’s 5-0 win over Alessandria following his long injury lay-off.

The Frenchman was sidelined for seven months and yet made an emphatic return to the side, scoring twice to help the Rossoneri reach their first Coppa Italia final in 13 years.

“It was nice to get back to scoring so soon after my injury lay-off.” said Menez to Milan TV. “I’d waited for that moment for so long, yesterday was a beautiful evening.

“Staying out for so long, for almost seven months, it was difficult. However, I was focussed on my recovery and getting back onto the pitch.

“The whole club supported me, the President, [Adriano] Galliani, the players and the staff. Their support was really important to me.

“After last season I wanted to continue, unfortunately I was stopped by the injury. My desire to come back and do well was huge. ”

Menez was also keen to stress that Milan must continue their recent good form.

“The team has more confidence now, we must continue to play like we’ve been playing because we can achieve great things this season,” he added.

“Now that we are in the Coppa Italia final, we need to focus on improving our position in Serie A.”
