Carpi emerged victorious in this relegation six-pointer, defeating Frosinone 2-1 at the Stadio Alberto Braglia.

Raffaele Bianco had the lone goal in a first half that was characterized more by injuries and theatrics than by quality goalscoring opportunities. Federico Dionisi brought the match level with a goal halfway through the second period before Jonathan De Guzman sealed the three points with a late penalty kick.

Supporters behind the goals were forced to remain on their toes as 12 of the 20 total shots ended up flying over the bar.

Neither team were able to build any real dangerous attacks until the goal was scored in the 27th minute. Lorenzo Lollo played Bianco through, the 28-year old beating onrushing goalkeeper Nicola Leali on the slide and nestling the ball just inside the near post.

For the most part it seemed as if the match was being played with a balloon rather than a football as Dionisi, Daniel Ciofani, Isaac Cofie, and Antonio Di Gaudio all blasted their efforts well over the goal.

At about the hour mark a clever Lollo tackle saw the ball come to Di Gaudio who rolled the ball into the path of Bianco in a dangerous position but once again the ball was smashed into orbit.

Frosinone drew level in the 71st minute when a free kick was dealt with poorly by the Carpi defense, the ball falling to Dionisi who made no mistake from close range.

Carpi were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute as Danilo Soddimo clumsily fell over Marco Crimi. Substitute De Guzman stepped up and converted the penalty to net his first tally with the club.

Crimi hit the crossbar in the closing stages but Carpi were able to hang on for the victory.

Carpi are now within a single point of Frosinone who remain in 18th place, one point behind Palermo who are in action on Sunday evening against Napoli.
