A mandatory extension to Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega’s contract won’t scupper his all-but completed move to Inter.
The Argentine is understood to have signed a three-year contract with Roberto Mancini’s side, passing a medical in the process, for a free transfer that will take place when his existing deal in Spain runs out next summer.
However, having reached 30 appearances for the Europa League holders did seem to end those hopes for Inter as it enacted a one-year extension with Sevilla, but that clause can be paid off by the player via a €1 million payment, according to FCInterNews.com.
Leaving the Andalusians for Serie A will mark Banega’s first venture onto the Italian peninsula as his playing days have been restricted to the Primera Division and his native Argentina so far in his career, which began with Boca Juniors.
