maranChievo coach Rolando Maran feels his team could have done better in their 3-1 defeat to Napoli.

Nicola Rigoni had given the Flying Donkeys a superb start, only to be pegged back by goals from Gonzalo Higuain, Vlad Chiriches and Jose Callejon.

“We could do better in certain circumstances,” Maran told Sky Sport Italia.

“We were not very rational and precise.

“But the team did try to do things and gave it a good go.

“To play in Naples means you have to play the perfect game.

“Napoli are in a very good place contrary to what the results say.

“Perhaps we could have been more polished, but we conceded the third goal and from there it was all the more difficult.”

Despite the result, Chievo have enjoyed a decent season so far, with questions on what is next for Maran’s side.

We changed some features already,” said Maran. “We will build for next year.”

“We have to finish on a high and be aware that we need to grow in the game.

“Since last year the way we played today has changed a lot, but we have plenty of room for improvement in order to grow in this respect. ”
