As Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella claimed three consecutive fourth-place finishes but was sacked in the summer of 2015.
Achieiving over a 50% win rate across all competitions, the Viola boss now finds himself at Sampdoria with the sides meeting on Sunday as Serie A action returns.
“They wrote to me with terms that I said I did not agree to,” Montella told Corriere Fiorentino, “to keep me from competitors there was a clause in my contract, but we had a gentleman’s agreement not to enforce it.
“But that agreement was not respected.
“The contract itself was misspelt and had no compensation for me if they fired me.
Montella then took aim at Borja Valero, one of his trusted men while in Tuscany who has since praised new boss Paulo Sousa.
“Borja says Sousa’s mentality is more successful, and everyone puts water to his mill,” the ex-Roma striker asserted.
“However, I know that he followed my dietary advice and is much more slender for it.”
