Napoli are considering offering a contract to Juventus‘ Martin Caceres, in a bid to reinforce their defensive department.
The Bianconeri defender looks unlikely to renew his contract with the Turin outfit, which comes to its end in June, and the Azzurri are keen on making the most of the situation by bringing him to the Stadio San Paolo for free.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli are waiting to begin negotiations with the Uruguayan international, however, they hold concerns over his fitness.
Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to be reassured that Caceres is going to be fit for the start of the next season before binding him to a contract.
The defender’s agent, Daniel Fonseca, is set to land in Italy over the weekend to discuss his client’s current situation, whilst potentially trying to strike a deal with the club from the south.
In an injury plagued season, Caceres has only accumulated nine appearances in all competitions.
