Napoli‘s hopes of signing Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have taken a significant blow after they were told by the German club to pay €100 million for his signature.
Aubameyang has been lined up as a potential replacement by Partenopei should Serie A’s leading goal-scorer Gonzalo Higuain leave, however, they may now look elsewhere following BVB’s high demands.
“If someone submits an offer equal to or superior of €100m then we might discuss the sale of Aubameyang,” Dortmund’s sporting director Hans-Joachim Watzke told Kicker.
“Otherwise, he’ll continue playing for us.”
Watzke’s comments come as a direct warning to Napoli in addition to a host of other top European clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, who have all shown a considerable interest in the high-flying Gabon international.
No stranger to Italy, Aubameyang impressed during his time in AC Milan‘s youth ranks, though did not manage to play a single game in Serie A.
