Di Francesco - SassuoloAC Milan have not approached Sassuolo about coach Eusebio Di Francesco, even if Sassuolo’s sporting director Giovanni Carnevali accepts there will be interest from big clubs in their boss.

Di Francesco, who won the Scudetto as a player with Roma in 2001, is admired in Italy having led Sassuolo to Serie A for the first time in 2013, and with the club now chasing European qualification.

Speaking to Sportitalia, Carnevali said: “I speak a lot with [Milan CEO Adriano] Galliani, we get on well, but we have not spoken about Di Francesco, or about [striker Domenico] Berardi. How likely is it that we will keep hold of Di Francesco? I would say very likely, since he has a contract for next year.”

Carnevali did admit that his coach may have ambitions of managing a bigger club, but he also said that Di Francesco has a secure job and an exciting, serious project at Sassuolo.

Sassuolo are also likely to see interest in Azzurrini forward Berardi, who has scored 37 Serie A goals in 81 games, including a memorable hat-trick against Milan last season.
