Whilst Juventus and Napoli continued their march at the top everyone behind them lost ground, as Inter, Roma, Fiorentina and AC Milan could all pick up just one point.

At the bottom, the Carpi won thanks to Kevin Lasagna while Palermo and Frosinone only drew, meaning the battle to avoid relegation really heated up.

Our Team of the Week will see an adventurous 3-4-3 formation deployed.

Do you agree with our selection? Have your say in the comments below!

Gianluigi Buffon – Juventus (3 Team of the Week appearances)

Not that Buffon needed anything else to testify his greatness, but he is now also the record holder for the longest time without conceding a goal: 973 minutes.

Nicola Spolli – Chievo

If Sampdoria did little to avoid a home defeat to Chievo it is mainly thanks to him. Spolli annihilated the Blucerchiati strikers for 90 minutes, being unstoppable in the air and controlling his defence.

His duel with Fiorentina’s Nikola Kalinic was one of the main of the game. In the final minutes, he threw himself at Facundo Roncaglia to block a great shot for Fiorentina.

Federico Peluso – Sassuolo

The perfect cross for Matteo Politano’s winning header is the icing on the cake from 90 minutes of hopping back and forth on the left wing, defending his flank and being a constant threat to the Udinese defence.

Ivan Perisic – Inter (2 apps)

The Croatian is now a crucial part of the Nerazzurri. In the Champions League showdown against Roma he drove the opposing defence crazy and scored the opener that nearly secured Inter three points.

Paul Pogba – Juventus (4 apps)

The usual quality in every touch and the unbelievable assist for Alvaro Morata’s wonder strike that settled the Turin derby.

Radja Nainggolan – Roma (4 apps)

After eight consecutive wins, Roma slowed down against a solid Inter, and it was thanks to the Belgian midfielder that defeat was avoided, thanks to a crucial 84th-minute equaliser.

Alessandro Diamanti – Atalanta

Ale is back, finally. Ironically, against his former club Bologna. Diamanti served the assist for Alejandro Gomez’s opener and then scored the 2-0 that gave La Dea the first win in 15 games.

Alvaro Morata – Juventus (2 apps)

The goal that makes it 3-1 for Juventus in the Derby della Mole would be enough to include him in the top eleven. He then decided to add another to his tally, and when he came on in the derby he changed the attack of the Bianconeri.

Gonzalo Higuain – Napoli (15 apps)

Another two, the 28th and 29th of his phenomenal season, to keep Napoli on Juve’s track. The second goal is an absolute gem too.

Kevin Lasagna – Carpi (2 apps)

The best surname in the league is back in the headlines, as his wonder goal gave Carpi three vital points against Verona: if this season ended now the team would still be in the top flight next year.
