Carpi at the Stadio Meazza on Thursday night.

Despite the Rossoneri dominating the first-half and remarkably achieving a possession stat of 84%, they were unable to break the deadlock as the Biancorossi defended stoutly.

The second-half was unerringly similar as the Diavolo continued to produce a low quality performance with neither side managing to find a winner.

Milan began the game strongly and Kevin Prince Boateng took an early chance to test Vid Belec with a stinging shot which the goalkeeper managed to palm wide.

However, following this Carpi managed to frustrate the Rossoneri limiting Carlos Bacca and co to wayward shots from range. Yet two minutes before half-time Alex flashed a header over the bar following a corner.

Following the interval the Biancorossi improved immensely and Kevin Lasagna produced their first shot on target when he cut in from the right-wing, but his effort was limp at best.

Milan were truly in dire straits, but they were able to create one opportunity which Jose Mauri headed harmlessly wide.

Three minutes before full-time Belec was forced into a double save. Luca Antonelli’s header was diverted into the path of Alex, who was denied by Belec from point bank range.

In stoppage time Gianluigi Donnarumma produced a remarkable fingertip save to deny Marco Crimi’s whipped effort following a Carpi counter-attack.

The result leaves Milan in sixth place whilst Carpi stay in 17th place.
