Frosinone ChievoChievo are preparing to welcome Frosinone to the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Wednesday for a Serie A clash between two sides currently finding themselves in different situations.

The Mussi Volanti have been playing well beyond expectations throughout the season and are now occupying the 9th position in the Serie A standings, without any fear of relegation, even though qualification for European competitions is now impossible. They are however, coming off a frustrating 0-0 draw against Udinese.

The Canarini, on the other side, have been fighting hard to avoid relegation and might have made one decisive step last Sunday, when they managed to score a dramatic late winner to defeat Hellas Verona by a score of 2-1. Roberto Stellone’s squad is now just one point below Carpi, with five matches still to play in the Serie A season.

The last clash between the two sides saw Chievo claim the 2-0 away victory at the Stadio Matusa, thanks to late goals by Alberto Paloschi and Riccardo Meggiorini. Extra time also saw Simone Pepe sent off.

The particulars of this fixture however, will be different, as Paloschi has left Chievo and Meggiorini is banned for the match, as is Fabrizio Cacciatore. Coach Rolando Maran will probably rely on an attacking duo formed by Roberto Inglese and Antonio Floro Flores, while Valter Birsa will act as a trequartista behind them. Maran will be forced to reshuffle his backline as well, with Cacciatore banned and Nicolas Frey and Dario Dainelli out with injury.

For Frosinone, only Federico Dionisi’s presence is uncertain. Beyond this, Stellone should be able to count on a full squad and eager to employ an attacking trio composed by Luca Paganini, Daniel Ciofani and Oliver Kragl.
