Hellas Verona coach Luigi Delneri says his players must always produce their maximum despite their lowly league position.
The Gialloblu registered their first away victory of the campaign against Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Monday evening thanks to Samir Santos’ first-half header.
“The standings condemn us and we must go on the pitch trying to do our best,” Delneri told Sky Sport Italia after the match.
“We suffered to collect the points but seeing what we did in the first half we deserved the victory.”
Talisman Luca Toni was omitted from the squad but Delneri reassured the supporters that his decision was merely tactical.
“We needed players who did not give reference points in forward positions and we did so,” he added.
“We choose every Sunday who is ready for the game.
“I’m happy for the guys who gave an extraordinary performance.”
